Melanie Upton
Head of School
Melanie Upton is a seasoned educator with a diverse background. She has taken on various roles including elementary teacher, middle school teacher, instructional coach, librarian, assistant principal, and principal. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Melanie has garnered numerous awards and accolades for her exceptional teaching and leadership, including being named Harrison County Administrator of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year. In 2021, she transitioned from public to private education when she joined Hope Academy, where she currently serves as the Head of School. Her mission is to establish a rigorous academic program that promotes creativity, leadership, and kindness.
Married to her husband, Michael, for 31 years, they are proud parents of two successful adult children, Matthew and Mollie. Melanie is actively involved in Faithview Baptist Church, and in her leisure time, she enjoys gardening, reading, and watching movies.
